ASLA 2018 – Pennsylvania
This Fall, Studio Balcones travelled up to Pennsylvania for the ASLA Meeting and Expo. The mad dash tour covered several innovative reclaimed industrial spaces. Philadelphia is home to US Navy Yards, which has transformed into an appealing site for public outdoor recreation.
The Urban Outfitters HQ reclaimed industry designs were spearheaded by D.I.R.T. This 9-acre campus sits on a historic property that was decommissioned in 1996. URBN seized upon the opportunity to incorporate and reveal existing industrial elements into the heart of their campus design.
The Navy Yards Central Green is another reclaimed green space that we have been looking forward to exploring. This is a 5-acre site designed by James Corner Field Operations. We love the flexible spaces that facilitate public socializing.ASLA, landscape architecture, navy yards, philadelphia, urban, urban design
