Studio Balcones worked with Michael Hsu Office of Architecture to design the Pike Powers Lab, a smart-grid interoperability research and showcase facility set within the Mueller Development. The lab will function as a testing ground for home smart grid systems for electricity, gas and water utility distribution. Studio Balcones’ landscape design incorporates native plantings and progressive stormwater management practices including bio-filtration gardens at the street edge and bio-infiltration planters at the building edge.
