SB Travel Spotlight: South Africa
SB designer Rachel Warburton spent her holidays travelling all around South Africa. Here are a few pictures from her time there! Click on photos to enlarge.
We started in Plettenberg Bay, a small beach town in the Western Cape.

From Plett we drove 4 hours northeast to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve . Here we got to safari for two days!

Here I am walking to spot a cheetah! My photos of the cheetah aren’t great but she was very happy and relaxed and had a very full belly.

Here were some gentle elephants sniffing out our Jeep.
Zebras. These were my favorite to spot, they were so peaceful and regal.

From Sanbona we drove another 4 hours to Cape Town. Our first stop was Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela and many other political prisoners were held during the Apartheid.

Our tour guide at Robben Island walking through the “recreational courtyard”. He was an ex-political prisoner and had spent 7 years at Robben Island.
Nelson Mandela’s prison cell, where we spent 18 of his 27 years imprisoned. The mats in the corner were his bed.
The next day we went to Kirstenbosch Botanic Garden in Cape Town- a must-see and landscape designer’s dream!

Last stop was to visit Table Mountain. This is the rotating cable car we took up to the top. You can also hike but it was really hot (it’s summer there)
