When in Miami, Explore Vizcaya!

The Vizcaya Villa is a stunning composite of globally influenced gardens located on the Biscayne Bay.Built between 1914 and 1922, these gardens were designed by artistic director, Paul Chalfin and Diego Suarez, the first Hispanic landscape architect to practice in the U.S. Columbian-born and Italian-trained, Diego Suarez created a master plan that reflects Northern Italian influences, while incorporating sub-tropical climate of Miami.  The owner, James Deering, preserved large swaths of native forests around this elaborate gardens. He also loved orchids and created environments for them in gardens, on rocks, and on trees throughout the property. Today, an orchidarium has been restored next to the main house.
