aesthetic. With over thirty years of combined experience working in the residential, commercial,
and public sector, we provide landscape architectural services for a wide range of projects,
working solo or as part of a team.

About the role
As a Studio Balcones landscape designer, you’ll participate in all project phases and contribute
to both the design vision and execution. Our body of work includes residential, commercial and
public projects.

In the first three months you will:

  • Contribute to the design process as an engaged member of project teams
  • Meet one on one with each member of our team
  • Have a mentor to help you become familiar with our firm’s design process, tools, software, and favorite neighborhood restaurants (can you say breakfast tacos?!)
  • Visit at least one of our project sites actively under construction
  • Attend client meetings
  • Give a presentation to the office about your background, experience, and personal interests

Over time you will:

  • Gain experience in all phases of the design process
  • Build a working knowledge of materials and share our interest in crafting details
  • Contribute significantly to the design direction of projects of varying complexity
    and scale
  • Grow into a leadership position for project teams – leading all aspects of project
  • Pursue professional development opportunities to continue learning and growing
    your skill set
  • Influence and help guide the firm culture
  • Pursue licensure to become a Landscape Architect


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited landscape architecture/architecture
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, Lumion, LandFX, Rhino, and GIS
  • Ability to create renderings and plans to communicate design intent from concept to
  • Some familiarity with construction detailing, materials knowledge, and specifying
  • Team-oriented, proactive communication, strong work ethic and solutions-oriented ideas
    are highly valued
  • Construction or landscape installation a plus

Salary range for this position is $50,000-$58,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

Location and Hours
Must be local to Austin, TX. After six months of employment, staff may work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays if desired.

Full Time, 40 hours per week.
